US 1:1 England

US 1:1 England

It was totally random and I wasn't really expecting to watch any of the matches to begin with; just thought I give a try on my Pinnacle TV stick, surprisingly I was able to get a really good quality reception on RCTI.

It was a good match, both teams were attacking but missed quite a few chances. Strangely, I found myself rooting for US team.

Dry Storage

Dry Storage

Went out to buy a dry cabinet today. Mostly motivated for  more storage space than actually needed to keep dry.

Ended up with a Digi-Cabi DB-036 (it's a 30L) from John 3:16 for $118/-.

The relative humidity stayed at 20% after running it for a day, that's even when the door was left opened for a couple of hours. That convinced me that the psychrometer is not working. True enough, took it apart and immediately saw one piece of resistor like part has came out. Made a random guess and "plugged" it back into one of the many set of holes, and viola, it worked! :)

Gakkenflex

Gakkenflex

Finally found time to work on my Gakkenflex today after it arrived almost a week ago. Other than the shutter piece which I couldn't figure out from the instructions in Japanese (solution), everything else was pretty straight forward. Overall took me about an hour assembling it at a slow leisurely pace. Next: to decorate it with some MT tape :)

such a beauty
Just popped in a roll of old film. Not sure how it will turn out – that's the whole fun isn't it?

大人の科学 VOL 25

Shooting with my new Voigtlander 40mm

Shooting with my new Voigtlander 40mm

Shot with my new Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f1.4 on EP-1 at Moo & Alex's church ceremony. My "failure rate" is still too high. Shooting with manual focus definitely needs a lot of practice. I'm still too slow thus missing quite a few shots and mis-focusing the remainders. For the very few acceptable shots, I simply love the colours and the details this lens brings.

The other challenge is the 40mm range, using it on EP-1 which is a micro 4/3 format, means actually shooting at 80mm. Below is an example of how I "missed" it totally. Couldn't get Phyllis into the frame because I couldn't step back any further as someone was standing behind me.
