I’m starting a new “Try Something New” project where every week I will look for something new to do with the simple aim of improving lives. This can be anything from doing something different for myself, trying a new service or simply just helping someone.
For this week, I signed up to help 4 individuals/groups on Kiva by providing them with a US$25 micro-loan each.
A loan of $2,925 helps Erdene-Oyun to purchase sofas, tables, and chairs.
A loan of $2,900 helped Dulamsuren to purchase starting inventory for her newly starting business.
A loan of $675 helps Maria Mercedes to purchase perfumes, creams, deoderants.
Nhan’s Group’s $1,025 loan helped a member to purchase fertilizer, rice seed, and pesticides.
Another year of 中秋 celebration at NAFA Kindergarten.
Amazingly, comparing her pictures to last year, the little girl hardly change at all. Did she even grow? lol
Something different this year … Veve’s “family effort” lantern won the first prize in the K1 category.
We went cycling at Pasir Ris Park, found this section of the park beautifully peaceful and charming. Reminded us of Yoyogi Park near Harajuku in Tokyo.
This picture (above) is clearly my favourite. Love the little girl’s smile, her posture and the bokeh behind. I was wondering how is that she learnt to cross her leg in such an manner … I was reminded later that the little girl was actually dying to get to the toilet when I took this picture
Bike parked … ready for picnic.
In an attempt to make Phyllis looks smaller
One of the rare shots taken by Phyllis that worked! Finally a shot of me with Veve!
Photos were taken using Olympus OM-4 with 50mm F1.4 lens (from the OM-1) on Kodak 400VC film.
The little girl is such a beauty … no it’s my camera … no it’s my lens … no it’s the photographer … lol … admit it, she’s so beautiful and I’m so in love with her … :)
Went by my office this afternoon to drop off the projector to make space for the 2 bikes tomorrow. On the way out, was driving by Tiong Bahru Park when Phyllis got really excited seeing “that round thing” at the playground area. So we decided to take a look and let the little girl have some fun as well.
All ready for the monkey bars …
Had to focus quick cos the little girl could not hold on any longer.
Little girl playing on “that round thing” … she was getting nervous not knowing how to get off.
We have wanted to get her a bike for sometime now. Since her birthday is coming up, we decided to get it earlier so that she can max out the fun during her school term break.
We got the Trek Mystic 16 from Treknology Bikes at Jalan Kilang Barat. It’s a pretty solid bike, a lot heavier than it looks. The weight definitely makes it a lot more stable as well.
She was thrilled! Insisting on going one round in the car park when we got home in the night. And the next day, we went to TWO parks just for her to cycle. First was Pasir Ris park, after that we headed to the Road Safety Park at East Coast.
For those of us of a “certain generation”, the East Coast Road Safety Park certainly brings back lot’s of fond memories. Well, the place is a little run down now even though it’s been updated with stuff like 7-Eleven store in the Shell petrol station. It’s open to public for free.
